Humpback Whales of the Southern Hemisphere
I had the privilege to swim with the humpback whales of the southern hemisphere in Niue during the winter months of 2007....Enjoy the video.
It is difficult to express my feelings fully during these encounters with the whales. It was one of the most powerful, joyful, and memorable moments of my life. The immense love and peace they shared with me was profound.
At one point, one of the female whales swam up to me, became still, and looked into my eyes, my soul. We remained in a silent embrace for about 20 seconds or more. I felt my heart pounding like the beat of a drum, and then suddenly open up like a flowering rose, as their love and peace poured in and overflowed into every cell of my body. I felt like a child being nurtured with pure unconditional love.
These incredible encounters lasted for about a week. After that, the humpbacks only appeared off shore occasionally for the remainder of my stay in Niue.
At first, I yearned for their love. Looking for them daily, asking myself, “Where are you? Where have you gone? I miss you so!”
Weeks later, while meditating, I realized what the whales were trying to teach me. Seek the love you are looking for, within yourself. External love is just temporary.
I believe the whales are vehicles for expressing divine love. They symbolize the heart center in our bodies. By connecting with these magnificent beings of the sea, we open our hearts and allow pure love to flow forth.
