A Short History of Reiki
There is much documentation as to the origins of Reiki and its ancient history. The documentation varies widely, depending on the source. What is important is that Reiki, meaning Universal Life Force Energy is real and profoundly healing, especially for practitioners who have been attuned to receiving this type of healing energy.
Reiki, pronounced Ray- Key, was rediscovered in Japan in the mid to late 1800's by Dr. Usui while meditating on Mt. Kurama. According to documented sources Dr. Usui was a teacher and spiritual figure who passed Reiki on to Dr. Hayashi, who passed it onto Mrs.Takata, who brought this healing energy to Hawaii and the main land.
"Ki” meaning energy is a system of channeling universal life energy for the purpose of healing the body, mind, and spirit and is administered by laying on of hands by a Reiki practitioner. Reiki is safe, natural and produces a deep state of relaxation allowing your body to heal itself. Reiki is simple easy to learn and independent of any religious belief systems.
Why Reiki yourself? The answer is easy! You deserve it! Sidharth (the co-author of the CD) and Diane have many personal stories to validate Reiki's healing potential.
The Principles of Reiki according to Dr. Usui are essential to long term effects. Applying the 5 principles of Reiki into your daily life will enhance your personal growth and bring empowerment into your world Meditating on them will strengthen your healing session.
The 1st principle: Just for today I will not worry.
Trusting and having faith in the universal plan, knowing that everything is happening for the highest good, for all, may be difficult to practice, but doing so will relieve much anxiety and stress.
The 2nd principle: Just for today I will not be angry.
Anger is a strong emotion, signaling feelings of being out of control, of things not going our way. Do not feel guilty for experiencing anger. Rather, ask your self "what is this anger trying to teach me?"
The 3rd principle: Just for today I will earn an honest living.
Being honest with oneself and others promotes a sense of well being, integrity, and self love.
The 4th principle: Just for today I will have an attitude of gratitude especially when times are difficult.
Remembering to stay in the moment, keeping it simple, and having positive thoughts can change your outlook. Thoughts are powerful. Thoughts alone can transform a lack of to abundance. Knowing we will be provided with everything we need and not what we want fosters gratitude.
The 5th principle: I will be kind to everything that is alive.
Honoring and being respectful of everything that has life is the most wondrous quality a human being can possess. Understand that all life was created by one divine power and that all beings are equal.
May your Reiki guides empower you and embrace you with inner contentment.
