Shamanism Experience
I had a wonderful opportunity to teach shamanism at one of the colleges on the Big Island of Hawaii.
The course description included the following:
- To learn to use ancient shamanic tools and apply these principles in every day life.
- To learn how to connect with animals, plants, and even cells of your body to receive guidance, clarity and healing.
- Learn how to materialize your dreams and realize your highest potential.
Shamanism is defined as a spiritual practice that originated in Siberia 10,000 of years ago. Shamanism is the ability to tap into ancient universal energies that have existed since the beginning of time, for healing and personal empowerment. It is the oldest healing tradition in the world.
Shamanic healing is deep soul work. It is a journey where you reach back into the wounded places of your heart, mind, and soul, to release negative energies and beliefs that are causing you distress. Spirit guides assist you and may appear in the form of animals, plants, minerals, angels, ascended masters, ancestors or elemental forces.
With the help of a shamanic healer, you can reconnect with lost parts of your self, or cut cords to people, places or things that no longer serve you. This type of healing can release you from the past, clear your energy field of negativity, and reclaim your authentic power.
Today, shamanism is gaining popularity for those seeking solutions to health related problems.

My experience in Shamanism class with Diane Zander was much more than what I had even begun to think of upon signing up for this elective. Her bright personality created an environment of safety and adventure that led me to a place that I did not know existed. She taught me how to Journey, and that is something that I will always have and can build upon. She set a stage for growth and development for the whole class and helped to further bring our class even closer together. I believe that she showed us how to open doors and how to shut doors within ourselves that will prove invaluable. There was a thread that ran through each class that at the end class showed a tapestry of who we are and who we aspire to be.
There is not anything that I would change about this class other than making it longer. I can see that we could have further evolved as a class and personally with more than the four weeks that we had together. I would endorse this class for anyone regardless of what path they are on right now or what path that they aspire to be on.

"This class has been a reinforcement to go inside to find the answers, to pay attention to the energies that exist all around, and be OK with asking for guidance."
"Everytime we have taken a journey, I have had insight into my life. I am thankful to know that journeying is simple and real to the present."
"In the past few weeks of our shamanism class I have experienced a shift in consciousness. An awakening of my spirit is beginning in my life, and my experience with journeying has helped me tap into a power within myself that was being ignored."
"I learned that throughout the world the indigenous cultures all practice and believe in the same basic truths. They may call them different things, or have different words to express the same connection to source."
